Red Dead Redemption 2: A Review of My Journey Through the
Wild West So Far.
After playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for about 12 hours, I
can confidently say this game is a must-buy. I’ve only just
begun my adventure, but it’s already become one of the most
immersive and enjoyable experiences I’ve had in a long time.
From the stunning open world to the exciting missions,
there’s a lot to love. Here’s a breakdown of what has stood
out to me so far.
A Beautiful, Living World
The first thing that hits you about RDR2 is how huge and
beautiful the world is. The landscapes are diverse and feel
alive, from the lush forests to snowy mountains. The game’s
attention to detail is incredible—the weather, the time of
day, and even small interactions with wildlife make it feel
like you're truly living in this world.
One of my favorite places so far is Saint Denis, the
bustling city that represents the rapid industrialization of
the Wild West. The streets are filled with streetcars,
horse-drawn carriages, and all kinds of people. It’s a great
contrast to the more rural areas of the game, showing how
much the world is changing during this time.
Exciting Missions
The story and missions are another highlight. While I’m
still early in the game, there’s been no shortage of
memorable moments. One mission I particularly enjoyed was
rescuing Sean from bounty hunters in Blackwater in the
mission "The First Shall Be Last". It was a challenge to get
there, especially with a dead or alive bounty on my head,
but once I made it in, the mission was action-packed and a
lot of fun. It was a great mix of strategy and intense
firefights.
The game does an excellent job of balancing story-driven
missions with opportunities to explore. While the main
missions are compelling, there’s also so much to do outside
of them, from hunting to fishing to helping random
characters along the way. This balance between structure and
freedom makes the world feel alive and full of
possibilities.
A Rich, Interactive Experience
One of the things that really stands out in RDR2 is how
every little detail adds to the immersion. Simple things
like cleaning your horse or maintaining your camp might seem
minor, but they all contribute to the world feeling real.
The character development is also deep, and even though I’m
still early in the story, I already care about the gang
members and what happens to them.
Final Thoughts
After 12 hours, I can confidently say that Red Dead
Redemption 2 is a game everyone should experience. The world
is huge and beautiful, the missions are exciting, and the
story is gripping. I can’t wait to see what else the game
has in store as I continue my journey.
At this point, I’d give it a 9.5/10. While there’s still so
much more to explore, I’m already hooked. If you love
open-world games or Westerns, this one is a must-buy.
